If you want to install and start Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant (SaRA) from a shared location on a network instead of the default internet location, don't use the download link in the About the Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant article. Instead, follow these steps.

Installing SaRA

  1. Download SaRA by using the following link:

  2. After the file is downloaded, extract the files from the ClickOnce folder to a shared network folder.

  3. On the computer on which you want to install SaRA, browse to the shared folder.

  4. Double-click Setup.exe.

  5. Select Install.

  6. When the Microsoft Services Agreement is displayed, select I agree.

SaRA is now installed and ready to run troubleshooting scenarios.

Maintaining the SaRA installation folder

The files for SaRA are updated regularly. You should update the SaRA files on the network share so that SaRA installations use the latest files. To keep your SaRA files up-to-date, follow these steps:

  1. Download SaRA by using the link that is provided in the 'Installing SaRA' section.
  2. Extract the program files from the ClickOnce folder.
  3. Replace the existing program files in your shared network folder with the new extracted files.

Any computer that has SaRA already installed can now be updated by using the following steps. New installations of SaRA will also use the version that is available on the network share.

  1. Start SaRA on a computer on which it's already installed.

  2. Select OK.

  3. Select Install.

  4. Select I agree.

Introduction

This article describes how to troubleshoot the following kinds of issues in Microsoft Outlook when it's used together with Office 365:

  • Outlook stops responding (hangs).
  • Outlook crashes even though you aren't actively using it.
  • Outlook crashes when you start it.

Procedure

To help troubleshoot Outlook issues in an Office 365 environment, follow these steps.

Step 1: Investigate possible issues caused by add-ins

  1. Exit Outlook.

  2. Open a Run dialog box. To do this, use one of the following procedures, as appropriate to your version of Windows:

Step 4: Create a new Outlook profile

Note

If you ran SaRA in Step 3, and you created a new profile, you can skip all of Step 4.

  1. Open Control Panel, and then click Mail.

  2. Click Show Profiles.

  3. Select the profile that you want to remove, and then click Remove.

    Important

    Removing the profile also removes associated data files. If you're not sure whether the data files are backed up or stored on a server, do not remove the profile. Instead, go to step 4.

  4. Click Add.

  5. In the Profile Name box, type a name for the new profile.

  6. Specify the user name, the primary SMTP address, and the password. Then, click Next.

This step creates detailed information about your Outlook configuration and provides solutions for any known issues that are detected. It also gives you the option to upload your results to Microsoft so that a Support engineer can review them before you make a Support call.
